ST. STEPHEN’S COLUMBARIUM AND COLUMBARIUM COMMITTEE

Sid McIlveen Memorial Columbarium is an in-ground columbarium in a beautiful semi-enclosed courtyard. This columbarium was begun in 1995 when a parishioner approached Father Clifton Mann to inquire if the courtyard could be used for the burial of ashes. Father Mann thought this was a wonderful idea and discussed it with vestry, who then approved the courtyard becoming a columbarium. There are 26 peoples’ ashes interred in the ground. With the help of a generous donation, we have just added 48 beautiful red granite and stone niches.

The Columbarium Committee is pleased to inform you that our new Columbarium Wall Niches are now installed and complete and ready to receive ashes for inurnment. If you or a member of your family have a desire to have your ashes inurned in one of these niches, you may reserve a niche for the placement of one or two urns or ash containers. The final costs must be made prior to the inurnment of the ashes. The granite face tiles of the niche will be engraved at no cost to the family and gold or pewter urns are available through the Parish for a nominal cost.

An information packet containing the Rules, Policies, and Regulations is available upon request through the Church office ((806) 799-3439 or office@ststephens-lubbock.org).

Also, the Columbarium Garden flagstone renovation and improvements are complete, and if there is a desire to reserve a space for in-the-ground internment, you need to provide a down payment of half of the costs with the balance due at the time of internment.

While most of the costs of the in-wall niches have been covered with generous donation from one of our Parishioners, the balance of the costs to the overall improvements of the Columbarium Garden still needs the support of the Parish through gifts and memorials. Thanks to all who have been most helpful in seeing the project move forward to this point.

The Columbarium was formally consecrated/blessed on the Fourth Sunday in Lent, March 14, 2021, by the Rev. Jean Pearson Scott.
